The Invisible Dog (Second City Class Sketch)!

ACT I

Ben is off to see his girlfriend Kate in the park and he looks very happy.

Ben arrives at the park and sees Kate has brought her Miniature Schnauzer, Brutus. Ben doesn’t like Brutus.  Kate is desperately trying to control Brutus on the leash.  Brutus is tugging and tugging on the leash and lunging toward Ben.

Ben is scared of Brutus, but Kate tries to comfort him and assure Ben that Brutus means no harm.

Kate gives Brutus a treat then Brutus calms down.

Kate gives Ben a hug and kisses him on the cheek. Brutus begins to bark and Ben and Kate react to his bark by covering their ears

The leash slips from Kate’s hand and Brutus rushes toward Ben. Brutus is chasing Ben around in a circle.

Ben and Brutus are both running around in circles while Kate is looking for another treat in her purse.

Ben is tired and is breathing heavily, his chest rising and lowering rapidly.  Ben realizes Brutus is humping his leg. Ben shakes and shakes his leg in an effort to remove Brutus off his leg.

Kate pulls out her cell phone and takes a picture of Brutus humping Ben’s leg. Using all his strength, Ben kicks Brutus off his leg and Brutus is thrown through the air and hits a tree.  Kate’s gaze follows as Brutus flies through the air.  As Brutus body hits the tree, Kate runs to Brutus as his body falls to the ground.

Brutus gets knocked out and Kate begins to cry. Ben tries to comfort her. Ben and Kate hover over Brutus to make sure he is ok.

Ben picks up a stick and pokes Brutus. Brutus is awaking.  As Brutus gets up, Kate and Ben are shocked and surprised.  Kate and Ben are overjoyed and very happy until Brutus bites Ben’s hand and won’t let go. Ben is screaming in pain while trying to get Brutus off his hand.

Kate tugs the back end of Brutus in an effort to remove Brutus from Ben’s hand.

Kate stops and remembers she has a treat in her pocket.

Kate grabs the treat from her pocket and throws it.

Brutus sees Kate throwing the treat lets go of Ben’s hand and rushes for the treat.

Ben is angry at Kate and they begin to argue. Brutus attacks Ben because he is protecting his owner, Kate.

Ben is trying to protect himself from Brutus’ attack.  In his frustration, Ben pulls out a hand gun and shoots Brutus.

Brutus is dead. Kate begins to cry like crazy. Kate picks up Brutus’s dead body and hugs it.  Kate is sobbing into Brutus’ body and stroking his head.

Ben is on his knees begging for Kate’s forgiveness.  Kate turns her back on Ben and walks away from Ben with Brutus in her arms.

Ben chases Kate walking on his knees.  Fumbling on his knees, he falls flat on his face.  Ben lifts his head and sees that Kate is leaving the park.

Ben struggles to get himself up.

Once Ben is up, he chases after Kate.  He reaches out to tap Kate on her shoulder.  

Kate reacts to the tap on the shoulder with a turn towards Ben.  Just as Kate turns to see who is tapping her on the shoulder, Brutus leaps out of Kate’s arms and takes a big bite of Ben’s neck.

Ben falls to the ground as Brutus attacks.
